Advisor Wealth Management: Now She Builds It Herself

Ann Bomgren runs operations for a two-advisor firm with 480 households and roughly $175M in client assets. With Milemarker MCP, the reporting she used to specify for someone else — reconciled revenue, quarterly fee forecasts, client health scores — she now builds and ships on her own schedule.

“This has been magic for me. I know what the data is. I know what it should be. I know where it lives. I know what field we're talking about. I know what I want this report to look like. I know what number we're trying to get to.”

Challenge

Two payment rails, a fee schedule changing mid-flight, and one question that mattered more than any other: how much revenue are we actually going to collect?

AWM collects client payments two ways — advisory fees through the custodian, and direct payments through a gateway for clients with fewer investable assets. Two systems, two shapes of data, and no single view of the answer. Then the firm changed how it charges, moving from a flat fee to AUM-based fees and grandfathering existing clients at their old rate while new clients came in at the new one. As Ann put it: “Some older clients have a grandfathered fee and newer clients get a different fee. And I'm like, oh, this is going to get hairy fast.” Reconciling the two streams was the piece she had been most certain was out of reach — and the firm's first AUM-fee quarter was closing at the end of September, precisely when an imprecise forecast would have cost the most.

Solution

Milemarker MCP connects Claude directly to the firm's Milemarker environment. Ann describes the report she wants in plain language, and it gets built against her real data.

Ann came to wealth management from a data and AI company, where she worked in customer success alongside deeply technical teams. She knows the vocabulary, knows what good reporting looks like, and knows her firm's data cold. What she lacked was a way to act on it without waiting in someone else's queue: “I could sit down and write the whole recipe and give it to an engineer, and he'd be like, ‘I guess I'll get to your report at some point.' Or I can just do it. And now I can.” She had already done the hard version — working with Claude directly, hand-writing context documents describing her firm's Snowflake schema so the model would understand what lived where. It worked, but every question began by re-explaining the environment. With MCP that groundwork is simply present, and metrics, tables, charts and the styling on top of them get built against real data. It reads and builds; it cannot alter the data underneath.

Results

Every Monday the firm's leadership meeting runs off a single Milemarker view that Ann built. When something on it needs to change — a new column, a different cut, a metric nobody thought to ask for until this week — she changes it that day. The work became invisible, which is the point: leadership doesn't see a data project, they see an operations leader who has the answer. Asked to rate Milemarker out of ten, she didn't hedge — “Ten. For sure.”

A reconciled revenue view spanning custodial advisory fees and direct client payments — the piece she was most certain was out of reach.

A quarterly fee revenue forecast split across legacy and current fee schedules, ready before the firm's first AUM-fee quarter closed.

The leadership dashboard the Monday meeting runs on, changed the same day a new cut is needed.

Client search working end to end — type a name, click through, land on a page that loads. Unfinished for months before MCP.

A client health scoring table, plus display rules that surface large incoming assets and cancellation risk.

“Ten [out of ten]. For sure. We're all still learning — we're always going to be learning AI, and how to best wield it. But this has been great.”
